Serbian Casinos
As for Serbian territory the earliest forms of gambling that have been recorded date to the ancient Roman Empire. However, the form of gambling as we know it today came during the time of socialist Yugoslavia, given the fact that the first Serbia casinos were introduced in the 1960s. However, during that period all gambling establishments were strictly controlled by the ruling government.
After the death of Tito and the fall of the former regime, the country was overwhelmed by a total crash in the economy, including the sanction measures, which made it actually impossible for any organized gambling activity to be organized and performed. During this period of time, only several land-based Serbia casinos were operating under outdated legislation, which was under the control of the Games of Chance Administration formed as a regulatory body by the Ministry of Finance and Economy. Given the chaotic conditions at that moment, the regulation was often brought in connection with unlawful activities.
