Dama N.V. has been declared bankrupt by a Curacao court ruling following lawsuits worth more than €800,000 from individuals located in Austria and the UAE (United Arab Emirates). This could prove a pivotal moment for the company and its platforms – with the likes of BitStarz and Playfina under Dama N.V. ownership.
News broke on June 10, 2024, that a pair of bettors had taken Dama N.V. to court after the enterprise failed to process payments. One of the individuals involved in this case had already won a case against Dama N.V. in Austria—an Austrian ruling agreed with the lawsuit’s proposals. That particular case concluded with Dama N.V. owing an €816,852 payment to the individual who brought forth the lawsuit.
That payment has resulted in this Curacao court ruling. Dama N.V. refused to transfer the required sum of money to the individual, so he opted to open a case before the Curacao judges. In an attempt to land a blow in the other direction, Dama N.V. has put forward its own case against the ruling. According to Dama’s case, the original ruling did not follow standard legal procedure.
However, the situation surrounding Dama N.V. appears irreversible. Additional customers have stepped forward to bring further cases before the Curacao court – with three players deemed to be owed money that has yet to be paid.
The Curacao judge explained that Dama N.V. should be declared bankrupt as the company does not pay its users. This is not the first time such a ruling has come to pass, as 1xBet was also ruled bankrupt by a Curacao court in January 2023.
